Throughout the day, players – past and present – of the Philadelphia Eagles responded through various electronic media in response to the Riley Cooper video. Some of the reactions were quite authentic, such as this reaction from Leonard Weaver:
I’ll comment in the morning concerning this matter. However it’s a bit surprising.
Some were more forgiving
Riley’s my friend Our relationship is mutual respect. He looked me in the eyes and apologized. I believe in forgiveness and I believe in him
@CLedz13 they (comments from Riley Cooper and Marcus Vick) are both horrible but Cooper is on the Team and Marcus is a spectator
But the quote of the day came from the emerging leader of the team, Jason Avant, who shared, “With this incident, does it hurt? Yes it does. But I still will deal with it as a Christian and I will always err on the side of mercy, because I know that in the end, God is gonna hold me responsible, because He’s had mercy on me. So I should have mercy on someone else.”
Mercy on us all, Jason.
